New Photographs of Vienna

I spent a few days in Vienna this summer, and brought back a few pictures, both in colour and in black & white.   I have tried, once again, to give a representative image of Vienna, primarily so its historic centre. 43 photographs are thus available. You can find them here on the page entitled:

I hope that you enjoy them. BWLDK

My course and I in the ‘Center for University Programs Abroad’

I recently found out that I had been featured, as “Professor Derhy Kurtz”, in the US publication of the Center for University Programs Abroad 2013/2014.

To quote the CUPA website:

The Center for University Programs Abroad (CUPA) is an independent organization founded in New York in 1963 as the Center for Overseas Undergraduate Programs (COUP). CUPA has offices in Paris and the United States.

CUPA specializes in study abroad exclusively in Paris and seeks to bring as genuine an experience as possible to its students.

Institutions participating to the CUPA programme, as listed on its website, include some of the most prestigious universities in the world, such as Harvard, Princeton and Yale, but also University of California (UCLA), Johns Hopkins UniversityUniversity of Michigan or Carnegie Mellon University, all of which are among the top 25 universities in the world, following the Times Higher Education ‘World University Rankings 2013-2014’. It was, therefore, all the more an honour to be featured in a document used by students from such renowned universities who wish to spent some time studying in Paris.

The brief article discusses one of the course I’ve taught at the ‘Arts du Spectacle’ (Film) department of Université Paris OuestHere it is as it can be found on page 135 of the pdf or page 133 of the paper version.

You can also directly access the entire issue of ‘The Center for University Programs Abroad – Paris 2013/2014‘.

My first publication as Editor is out!

In Spring 2013, I was offered by Networking Knowledge, MeCCSA‘s PGR Journal to direct/edit a special issue of their Journal, as guest-editor.

A year later, this Special Issue, entitled ‘Branding TV: Transmedia to the Rescue’ is finally! I am, therefore, very happy to present you my first publication, not as contributor this  time, but as editor (I have also, however, written a introductory chapter). The entire issue is available for free, here.

My thanks to all the brilliant contributors.

I was also delighted and very proud to receive the compliments of world-renowned scholar Henry Jenkins (who actually came up with the term of Transmedia Storytelling and was the first one to really study the practice), who was also kind enough to promote the issue I had directed to his numerous followers on twitters.
